GAME PROJECT LEAD


Job Purpose:

Working within the design team to ensure the overall quality and playability of their games is as high as possible while focusing on the intention of key game features. You will be responsible for leading game design and managing the publisher relationship in all areas of Game Design.


The position involves working closely with the lead programmer, producer and other peer leads to equally plan and implement optimal engineering solutions governed by an “agile” development methodology.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Creating game design document to define vision and all mechanics of a game
  • Supervise and train staff in your team
  • Ensure that the rest of the team (including programmers, artists, animators, producers and audio engineers) understand the design and vision of a game
  • Communicate with a publisher about design and implement requested changes into a game design
  • Make adjustments to the original specification to reflect technical constraints and new programming or artistic developments from the team
  • Proven experience applying the right people to the right job at the right time.
  • Liaise with the publisher, external partners and the other divisions of Ordino Studios.
  • Build a strong working relationship with the game development team and help them with any obstacles to ensure that the game is “fun” and on time.
  • Work with managers to organize ongoing focus testing and usability tests
  • Highlight the tools needed for the production in collaboration with the producer
  • Report progress, both to management and also the team, keeping them appraised of progress issues. 
  • Mentor individuals from the development team, solve people-problems and apply motivation practices.
  • Coordinate, evaluate and react to feedback from the stakeholders and focus tests.
  • Upon request from the company, attend trade shows and press events to represent the product and/or company.


Skills and required experience:

  • Must have been hands on video game designer at a game developer or publisher on at least two published titles from start to finish.
  • Outstanding organizational, people and team building skills
  • Be creative, imaginative and original
  • Consistently mentor and coach team members
  • Ability to self manage and work in an open structured, cross-discipline team
  • Responsibility for own actions and ability to admit own mistakes
  • Able to easily present ideas and information to the team, ability to deliver and receive constructive feedback
  • Have a thorough understanding of the market and target audience for computer games
  • Understand the capabilities and benefits of different hardware including PCs, consoles and mobile devices, as well as the relevant software technologies and techniques
  • Is actively involved in the recruitment and onboarding process
  • You are fluent in both written and spoken English and possess excellent communication skills.
  • Willing to relocate to Ordino, Andorra.
