3D SENIOR CHARACTER MODELER
Job Purpose:
As a Character Modeller, your task will be to create 3d characters for a game, and to ensure that all of the game art received from the art department deliver that vision. Will work alongside all other members of the development team: programmers, artists, producers, level designers, testers, and more. Ideally the candidate would have experience for mobile games using Unity3D.
The position involves working closely with the game project lead to equally plan and implement optimal designing solutions governed by an “agile” development methodology.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all aspects of character development production are completed on a timely basis to a high standard.
- Modeling 3D environments optimized for mobile devices
- Prototype new technologies on the given platforms.
- Work closely together with the Animation and Rigging department.
- Work together with our Research and Development department to improve workflow.
- Define work processes together with the Art and Project Managers.
Requirements:
- At least 3 years professional production experience (ideally on mobile platforms).
- Evidence of a clear understanding of creating a wide range of photorealistic characters for game engines.
- An understanding of how game-play and real time issues can affect a Senior Artist’s work, and the ability to develop techniques to compensate for such limitations.
- Sample pictures, or link to web pages, which demonstrate work.
- Strong understanding of the impact of shading and lighting in real time engines.
- The ability to create game ready assets that work well within the given technical limitations.
- Strong understanding of at least one of established 3D applications, preferably with experience of Autodesk 3ds Max or any other sculpting tools like Zbrush/Mudbox.
A portfolio or reel that demonstrates the following:
- Strong artistic background, with numerous examples of life drawing.
- Clear understanding of the normal map creation process.
- Strong ability to create photorealistic high poly models.
- Clear understanding of efficient UV layout for low poly objects.
- Keen eye for detail, realism, composition and color.
- Strong texturing skills.
