3D SENIOR ENVIRONMENT ARTIST


Job Purpose:

As an Environment Artist, your task will be to create and design 3d/2d model environments for a game, and to ensure that all of the game art are consistent in delivering that vision.  Will work alongside all other members of the development team: programmers, artists, producers, level designers, testers, and more.  Ideally the candidate would have experience designing gameplay systems for mobile games using Unity3D. 

The position involves working closely with the game project lead to equally plan and implement optimal designing solutions governed by an “agile” development methodology.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Create and maintain cutting edge visuals while keeping an eye on current trends and techniques.
  • Model environment geometry and props from simple white box to finished states based on inspirational concept art.
  • Clear understanding of design basics (silhouette, lighting, composition, perspective, colour, etc) and how environment affects game play.
  • The ability to create game ready assets that work well within the given technical limitations.
  • Able to effectively collaborate with game designers and programmers.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, able to easily present ideas within the team.
  • Ability to self manage your own time and work in an open-structured, cross-discipline-team environment.
  • Actively accepts and provides feedback and is open-minded to new ideas and concepts.
  • Willingness to contribute original ideas towards all aspects of game production and development.  

 

Skills and required experience:

  • You have at least 3 year experience working in the game industry in a similar role and have completed at least one game using Unity3D or other similar 3D game engines.
  • Hands on knowledge with 3ds Max, Zbrush/Mudbox, Photoshop and/or equivalents.
  • A strong ability to create believable environments within a games engine
  • Ability to derive a well structured lowpoly model from the high poly model
  • Strong understanding of efficient UV layout for lowpoly objects
  • Communicate clearly and concisely within a large group/multiple project environment
  • You are a focused problem-solver and team player who’s happy to work proactively with all disciplines, and work independently when necessary.
  • Ability to work within a schedule and budget
  • Highly motivated and passionate about interaction designs and games
  • You are fluent in both written and spoken English and possess excellent communication skills.
  • Willing to relocate to Ordino, Andorra.
